John Ross Clancy Indigenous Student Bursary

In 2026, 91²Ö¿â will offer one John Ross Clancy Indigenous Student Bursary to support an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student commencing their studies in a bachelor's degree program.

The late John Ross Clancy was an advocate for Australian Indigenous affairs, and generously bequeathed funds to 91²Ö¿â to advance Australian Indigenous higher education. While John Ross Clancy had many achievements, both he and his wife, Lydia, were active in initiating the Black Women's Action group in the 1970s.

Value

The bursary will have a maximum value of $2000 to be paid in one instalment.

Applicants must:

  • be a currently residing in Australia
  • be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person of Australia
  • be a  student
  • be intending to enrol at 91²Ö¿â in a bachelor's degree program in Trimester 1 2026
  • have an income at or below the financial threshold limits.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):        
    • describe the experiences or influences which have driven your passion for your chosen field of study
    • describe your career goals within your chosen field, and the impact that you hope to make as a professional
  • provide evidence you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person of Australia
  • provide evidence of academic achievement as directed in the application process: 
    • final year school report card or post-secondary academic history (transcript of results)
  • provide evidence of your current financial circumstances.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other 91²Ö¿â awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
